get your hair ready for spring @ 00:39
If you are the kind of person that wakes up about 45 minutes
AFTER the alarm went off and you have about 4 minutes left to do your hair and make-up, choose an outfit and have breakfast... you are gonna LOVE the
Spring 2012 hair trends! From wet hair to simple ponytails to hair that is meant to look like you haven't brushed it for weeks - it's all hip. I had a bit a of a google and had a look around to find what is considered to be the new best way to have your hair.
I always check hairtrends, and I almost always end up keeping what I already have, but still.
Trend 1: Glistening Hair
This means hair that looks wet. Hair that comes right out of the shower. Hair that doesn't need a blowdry, backcombing and lots of product and hairspray - just water. And maybe some serum to keep the hair extra glossy. It's easy and very quick but admittedly, wearing this hair with your regular every day clothes makes it look like you forgot your hair after showering and not so much as if it's meant to be that way.
Trend 2: Ponytails
I am the kind of person that manages to pull off my desired hair look two days in a row after washing it and for the remaining time inbetween hair washes, I tie my hair up and don't take it down until I actually wash it again. So, ponytails are for me - they're quick, effient, and if you're hair is long enough you probably know how to make a ponytail on yourself, so they're also very easy. There's some variety in how you can wear your ponytail; basically anything goes, the crazier, the better.
Trend 3: The Urban Wave
Not to be confused with beach hair or regular curls. No, the urban wave needs to look like the kind of wavy hair you end up with after curling your hair 2 days ago and all you have left now is a weak curve in your hair that's totally hipster forward and effortlessly cool. If you're lucky, you're born with this kind of hair... I know a lot of people that wake up with this hair do so YAY for you, you can trade your hair time for extra sleep time!
Trend 4: Embellished Updos
Okay so not ALL Spring hair trends are quick and effortless... like this one. Basically you have to make your hair look like it's on Jennifer Lopez's head in the ballroom scene in Made in Manhattan (when she wears the pink gown and the jewellery that's worth billions). Sophisticated chignons are the way forward people! And use some wacky accessiories to make it look like you know what you're doing. Chique. Combine this trend with trend one and BOOM! Fashion points for you, young lady!
Trend 5: Bigger Blowouts
This is EXACTLY my kind of thing. I like hair, I like a lot of hair; there needs to be a lot of it, with lots of volume and basically makes your head twice the actual size. Also, curls. Curly hair is my YAY to my mother's NAY - but who cares, she's had the same hairdo since she had me 22 years ago so taking advice from her is a bit like having your grandmother tell you how to be gangster. Great metaphore.
Trend 6: Sophisticated Braids and Twists
Last but not least; plaits! I like plaits so much - I know how to do most of them but only ever do them on other people - when I say other people I mean my little sister Raven who is a huge tomboy and almost never lets me near her hair, but when she does she usually ends up with a twisted head. I want to learn how to do most of these babes on my OWN hair without having it look silly and/or stupid and/or like my mother had to help me.
ps. the model in the three pictures used in the blog is my little 13 year-old sister Raven -
shout out!
